Happy Friday DDS Families,

Today we gathered in the gym for a presentation to learn about Terry Fox and then, together as a school community, we ran to complete our annual Terry Fox run. Thank you to the volunteers who joined us to help tally the many laps that students completed.  There was such determination by all to complete as many laps as possible for Terry Fox!

Families are welcome to support The Terry Fox Foundation online through our school donation page: https://schools.terryfox.ca/136147. Thank you to everyone who has already contributed!

Wishing you a great weekend ahead!

Reminder: Please keep toys at home:

With the popularity of squishy toys such as NeeDohs and Dumplings continuing to grow, we ask parents to help us keep classrooms focused on learning and to keep these toys at home. We find these types of toys often distract students and sometimes go missing or get damaged. If your child requires a specific learning or sensory tool, please reach out to your child's classroom teacher to discuss the options available.

 Book Fair:

Next week we are excited to host Owl's Nest Books, a local Calgary store, for the opportunity for students to purchase new books and novelty items.  Teachers have booked a time to shop with their class during school hours. If your child brings cash, please ensure it is in a Ziploc with their name on it to help teachers support students with their purchase(s). The book fair will also be open during our Open House, Thursday night from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm. If you prefer to shop online, you can visit www.owlsnestbooks.com and use the promo code DOUGLAS so that your purchase is delivered to your child at school. All funds raised through this book fair go directly back into purchasing new books for the school library. Thank you for your support!

 DDS Spirit Wear:

We have a fun collection of hoodies, sweatshirts, and t-shirts with our DDS logo available for purchase here.

 School Council: September Newsletter

All families are invited to join us for the first school council meeting on September 24 at 6:00 pm in our school Learning Commons. Our meetings are no longer than one hour and offer the opportunity to provide feedback and participate in decision-making about the school year ahead. The meeting agenda with an online link to attend via Microsoft Teams will be shared closer to the date. We hope to see you in person or online on Thursday!
