Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year DDS Families!
As summer winds down and school backpacks make their way out of closets, we want to welcome you to this school year and share important startup information.
Plans for this school year build on what makes Douglasdale such a special place. This year DDS students will have opportunities to learn not only from our incredible teachers, but through student residencies, new experiences, collaboration, and the many ways learning lives across the school. We strongly believe quality teaching matters, paired with creating a school where every student is known, valued, and feels connected.
Some exciting experiences to look forward include three school-wide residencies: Alberta Lacrosse Residency (September), Decidedly Jazz Danceworks (December), and CMSA Soccer in Schools (May). We will host two book fairs this year - Owl’s Nest Books in September and Scholastic in March. You can also expect our extracurricular lunch clubs to start back up; sign-ups for all clubs will be included in our weekly email from the office.
You can expect an email from your child’s teacher(s) on Thursday, August 27th, at 4:00 pm. This will share first day information along with an introduction to your child’s teacher(s) for the 2026-2027 school year.
As we begin the year, we anchor ourselves with our DDS motto: ‘In a world where you can be anything, be kind!’ Kindness is more than something we talk about; it is how we choose to build our Douglasdale School community every day. We are so excited for a year filled with learning, laughter, and lots of moments that remind us why we love being part of the Douglasdale School community. Welcome back! We can’t wait to see you all soon!
With appreciation,
Heather McKay, Principal
Monique Koleyak, Assistant Principal
