This week, across the school, students spent time thinking about what it means to feel thankful and a sense of gratitude. We have much to be thankful for at Douglasdale School! We are thankful for our caring and skilled staff who work hard to ensure every student feels a sense of belonging and challenge in their academic learning. We are thankful for parents who are active partners in education, volunteering on field trips and in the classroom, and contributing through School Council. And finally, we are thankful for our amazing students who are kind, considerate, and strive to do their very best each day. DDS is truly a wonderful community that we are so thankful to be part of!

URGENT - Casino volunteers required:

We need your help!  Douglasdale School council needs a few more volunteers to fill positions for our bi-annual casino on Saturday October 14th and Sunday October 15th.  Our school benefits greatly from the $60,000 - $80,000 earned during these events and we must fill these shifts for all the children at DDS to benefit.  We currently have the following shifts available:

Saturday October 14, 2023

10:00am – 7:15pm:  General Manager & Cashier:  

6:30pm – 3:45am: General Manager

 

Sunday October 15, 2023

 10:00am – 7:15pm: Cashier

 6:30pm – 3:45am: General Manager & Cashier

11:00pm – 3:45am:  Countroom

We also need a few people who are willing to be backup volunteers who would be available to step in if someone is ill or needs to cancel last minute.

Halloween:

Students are invited to wear a costume at school on October 31^st. Classes will have an opportunity to participate in a school-wide parade where they will have a chance to see other costumes and share theirs. Costumes should be child friendly. Please do not send any prop weapons, food items, or treat bags to school. October 31^st will be a regular learning day for students.

 

Halloween Dance – October 19, 2023:

Douglasdale School Council invites you to the Family Halloween Dance on October 19th from 6-8pm. All students MUST be accompanied by an adult. Costumes are encouraged! A form has gone home with your student, please fill it out and return it along with payment to the office by October 16th.   

Douglasdale school council strives to remove barriers and provide fair entry to all. If the fee is a barrier for your family please return the slip and join us at no cost. All proceeds from this event go into our Community Cares Fund, which directly assist members of our school community.  For all inquiries please contact School Council.

 

Student Fees:

Please regularly check your MyCBE/PowerSchool account for fees, field trips are being allocated daily.  Lunch Supervision fee will be allocated to students accounts on/after October 16, 2023.

 

School Council Information:

The next School Council meeting will be October 25th. Meeting information and an online link for those who prefer to attend from home online will be sent closer to the date.
