Happy Friday Douglasdale Families!

Thank you to all our families for helping your child(ren) dress warmly for the first cold weather week of the season. If you are in need of winter clothing for your child(ren) this season, please reach out to Mrs. McKay as the school does have a small collection of gently used winter clothing and might be able to help. On a helping note, we wanted to share that our Halloween Dance raised over $1600 for our School Council Community Cares Fund! This fund was set up to directly help families who attend our school. If you, or someone you know who attends DDS, could use a helping hand with groceries, please reach out to Mrs. McKay for a confidential discussion about how we can support (hmmckay@cbe.ab.ca).

We also wanted to share we are doing our best to clear sidewalks and stairwells in a timely fashion, but it is a challenge with the many entrances and walkways we have. If you see an area that requires attention, please let one of the outdoor Staff supervisors know or contact the office.

School Council Information:

The next School Council meeting will be November 1, 2023. Meeting information and an online link for those who prefer to attend from home online will be sent closer to the date.

Halloween:

Students are invited to wear a costume at school on October 31^st. Classes will have an opportunity to participate in a school-wide parade where they will have a chance to see other costumes and share theirs. Costumes should be child friendly. Please do not send any prop weapons, food items, or treat bags to school. October 31^st will be a regular learning day for students.

 

Fieldtrip Fees & Absences:

Just a friendly reminder that fieldtrip fees must be paid prior to the event taking place.   The school pays the costs of fieldtrips in advance for all students to attend.  If your child is absent on the day of the event, the fee will not be removed from your account.  If you are going on vacation and have not signed the consent form, the fee will be removed from your account.

 

Fall Picture Re-takes – November 6, 2023:

If you would like your child’s fall picture re-taken, please email your child’s teacher before November 5, 2023. 

Parent / Teacher Conferences – November 23 & 24, 2023:

We will be holding In-Person and Online Conferences again this year.  Parent / Teacher Conferences bookings will open on November 8 at 4:30pm and close on November 22, 2023 at 11:59pm.  Further information to follow.
