DDS Weekly Message - November 9, 2023

Happy Friday Douglasdale Families!

This week our DDS community engaged in different learning activities about the significance of Remembrance Day. Teaching students about Remembrance Day is an essential way to ensure that the sacrifices of past and present military personnel are appreciated and remembered. Our grade 5 students hosted a school-wide assembly where students shared what Remembrance Day means to them, sang songs of peace and hope, and each class placed a wreath as a symbol of respect and remembrance for our fallen soldiers. There are many Remembrance Day Ceremonies happening around Calgary on November 11 geared towards families. You can find out more information on Calgary’s Family Fun website

We hope you have a wonderful Fall Break ahead! We look forward to welcoming students back at school on November 15th.

Dropping off / Pick Up:

We have received a number of concerns from residents regarding parents using non parking zones and children exiting vehicles into the traffic lane when dropping off and picking up their children at the front of the school.  Please remember to park in the designated spots. This may mean parking further from the school and having a short walk during high traffic times.

Spare Clothing in backpacks:

Due to the wet ground, we have had a number of students falling in the mud and we have limited supply of extra clothes at school. If possible, please provide a spare set of clothing in your child(ren)’s backpacks. If your child has come home with clothing provided by the office, please wash these items and return them in your child’s backpack.

School Office Hours:

If you need to contact the office, the hours are as follows:

Monday to Thursday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

Friday 8:00 am to 12:00 pm
