DDS Weekly Message - January 19, 2024
Dear DDS Families,
Report cards will be available for online viewing through your MyCBE PowerSchool account on January 30th. Report cards reflect summative (end) achievement of the learning outcomes taught and assessed during the first reporting period. If your child’s learning is supported through an IPP (Individual Program Plan), an updated hard copy of this will be sent home on January 30th as the IPP and report card work in unison to share information related to your child’s learning and achievement.
If you are new to CBE or your child is new to CBE, here are some informative resources:
· CBE’s Assessment and Reporting Website for parents
If your child is in kindergarten, your child’s report card will be slightly different than students in grades 1 to 5.
· In January, progress in ELAL and Math will be communicated to parents / legal guardians via the report card.
· In June, progress in all discipline areas will be communicated to parents / legal guardians via the report card.
If you have any questions about your child’s report card or progress, please contact your child’s teacher. We are excited to celebrate the success of each of our DDS students!

Students in grades 1 and 2 are invited to register for our upcoming Friendship Bracelet club. Additional details and registration are available here.

IMPORTANT - Outstanding 2022-2023 Transportation & Lunch Fees – Payment Plans:
In February all outstanding 2022-2023 Transportation & Lunch Supervision fees will be sent to collections. If you require a payment plan please email studentfees@cbe.ab.ca prior to January 20, 2024.
Central Fee Waiver – 2022-2023 Deadline Extended:
The 2022-2023 central fee deadline has been extended. If you wish to apply for a central waiver (Transportation and Lunch Supervision fees) please email FeeWaiver@cbe.ab.ca
Douglasdale Apparel:
We have opened our online clothing store for families to purchase regular DDS t-shirts and hoodies, in addition to special edition shirts for Pink Shirt Day, reflecting DDS’ commitment to being kind citizens. Kindergarten Registration Is Now Open:
2024-2025 Kindergarten registration will open on January 15, 2024. Kindergarten students must be 5 years by December 31, 2024. At least one legal guardian must reside in one of our catchment areas – Douglasdale, Douglas Glen or Quarry Park. All registration must be completed online via your MyCBE account for parents with children in the CBE and via School Engage for new families to the CBE. See attached registration guide. Douglasdale School will continue to offer a half-day program, 5 days a week.

Planned Absences over 5 days:
Vacations or planned absences over five days require a Extended Absence form completed and returned to the office before you leave for your trip. Please click on the link to complete.
