Happy Friday Douglasdale Families, 

The holiday season has taken off at DDS! Mistletoe, our school Elf has been up to shenanigans this week, classes decorated their doors, and festive wear brightened the school throughout the week. It has also been a week filled with kindness at DDS. Our Braveheart Giving fund, supporting families in the Alberta Children’s Hospital cardiac unit has already raised over $500! Thank you for your generous donations. We will continue to collect donations and add heart ornaments to our Giving Tree until December 22nd. 

On Thursday, we celebrated the safe arrival of Mrs. Shaw’s daughter, Syndey Jane. Both mom and baby are happy and healthy. Congratulations and well wishes to Mrs. Shaw and her husband as they start this new and exciting adventure! 

Our reported illness rate has dropped below 8% as of today. Thank you for calling the school’s absence line (403-777-6177 ext. 1) to report illness. This supports our required reporting to AHS. Thank you for also continuing to keep children home until they are feeling well.

Kindergarten is Coming to Town! 

2024-2025 Kindergarten registration will open on January 15, 2024.  Kindergarten students must be 5 years by December 31, 2024.  At least one legal guardian must reside in one of our catchment areas – Douglasdale, Douglas Glen or Quarry Park.  All registration must be completed online via your MyCBE account for parents with children in the CBE and via School Engage for new families to the CBE.  See attached registration guide. Douglasdale School will continue to offer a half-day program, 5 days a week.

Fieldtrip Absences: 

The school pays the costs of field trips in advance for all students to attend.  If your child is absent on the day of the event, the fee will not be removed from your account.  If you are going on vacation and have not signed the consent form before the trip, the fee will be removed from your account.
