DDS Weekly Message - December 1, 2023

Happy Friday Douglasdale Families,

We had a busy week of learning off-site for many of our students. Grade one students from Mrs. Bielefeld’s class spent the week downtown, grade four students enjoyed learning at Telus Spark, and grade five students explored the Leighton Art Centre. Thank you to our DDS family members who volunteered to ensure our students could learn through these amazing experiences. We appreciate our volunteers!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Volunteers NEEDED:

Field trips are an important part of learning. We must have a certain number of volunteers in order for classes to go on a field trip. Many teachers have shared that they are struggling with getting enough volunteers. If you have not yet signed up to be a school volunteer, and would be willing to help, here is the process for volunteer clearance:

1.You can find the annual volunteer form to fill out from our School website.

 2. Bring the completed annual volunteer form and two forms of government ID (including one with a photo) to the school.

3. You will receive an email from the office to apply for your ePIC. The cost of this process is $21.25.

4. Calgary Police will send you an email confirming your results are now ready.  Sign into your CPS account and access your letter.

5. Submit a copy of this letter to the office in person or email Sue Naylor at senaylor@cbe.ab.ca . The school will process your ePIC letter and clear you for volunteering.

6. You are now ready to volunteer!

How to pay your school fees:

Legal Guardians are responsible for paying student school fees each year.

Field Trips fees need to be paid prior to the event taking place.

Central Fees, Lunch Supervision, Student Supply Fee and Transportation (if applicable) must be paid before June 30, 2024.

You can pay online using your My CBE Account or by debit/credit card at the school.

2024-2025 Kindergarten Registration:

2024-2025 Kindergarten registration will open in January 15, 2024.  Kindergarten students must be 5 years by December 31, 2024.  At least one legal guardian must reside in one of our catchment areas – Douglasdale, Douglas Glen or Quarry Park.  All registration must be completed online via your MyCBE account for parents with children in the CBE and via School Engage for new families to the CBE.  Douglasdale School will continue to offer a half-day program, 5 days a week.

If your child is going to be late or absent, please either call the school office 403-777-6177 Ext. 1 or email Ms. Naylor senaylor@cbe.ab.ca before 9:05am.  Please speak clearly and slowly when leaving a message and include:
