Happy Friday DDS Families,

This week our DDS School Council and families contributed significantly to our learning community through volunteering at a local casino. Thank you to Casino Chair Morgan Caswell for your organization and time towards ensuring all went well. We would also like to say a heartfelt thank you to our families who volunteered. We know this commitment impacts your work and home lives and we appreciate your contribution! Funds raised through casinos directly impact DDS students through the purchase of technology and furniture, in addition to residency experiences such as Trickster.

On this note, we would like to invite all DDS volunteers to our upcoming Volunteer Appreciation event. We know there are many ways you contribute to the classroom, the school, and the larger school community. Thank you!

Please RSVP here to indicate you will join us on May 23rd at 10:45 am.

 Have a great weekend!

 Read-A Thon:

Get ready to read, read, and read! DDS will host its annual Read-A-Thon from May 15 to May 30. This fundraiser is to fund our new Serenity Spot. Why did we need this, you ask? Our old Living Wall was past its’ expiration date, with the integrity and safety of the old unit quickly decreasing. Our new Serenity Spot is already a much-loved space, enjoyed and used by all DDS students. It provides access to a natural self-regulation space, improving focus, mood, and social/emotional well-being. Calgary-based Tevagrow designed this new space specifically for DDS and was intentional about designing a unit for longevity and student safety. Students who participate in this fundraiser will be eligible to win Principal-for-a-day, Assistant-Principal-for-a-day, Mr.Tim-for-a-day, or the opportunity to officially name our new crayfish who resides in our Serenity Spot. All students who participate in the Read-A-Thon will be invited to add their name to our fundraising wall, capturing their contribution towards this legacy project. More information will be sent home through a paper package closer to the Read-A-Thon dates.
