Happy Friday DDS Families, 

The beginning of May brought DDS sunshine, warm weather and lots of amazing learning! 

• Kindergarten explored the concept of capacity, which quickly spread to discussions about snack containers and everyday use of math vocabulary. 
• Grade One built bee houses by hand this week. They had the opportunity to assemble the wooden structure using tools, which was new to many. Thank you to our parent volunteers for lending your muscle to this project! 
• Grade Two enjoyed a walk to Fish Creek, practicing the nature journalling skill of ‘zoom in – zoom out’. Thanks to the parents who were able to volunteer! 
• As part of their Social Studies learning, Grade Three worked collaboratively in pairs to learn the structure of a textbook, how to read and understand information for research purposes, and how to record key information in short jot notes. 
• Grade Four continued their deep dive into Informational Writing connected with personal interests and the Social Studies curriculum. They are using the TIDE mnemonic to remind them of the important essay parts and are becoming experts at writing essays! 
• Grade Five were excited to learn all about the Digestive System as part of their science learning. They have enjoyed the 3D puzzle person helping them visualize each part, as well as learning many interesting facts which have them thinking about their own bodies and how to stay healthy. 

 Lots of learning to celebrate! We hope you have a great weekend ahead.
