Happy Sunday DDS Families,
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Neon dance put on by DDS School Council! It was a lot of fun connecting with our community. Events like this would not be possible without the amazing parent volunteers who brought the vision together. Thank you! Once the amounts are tallied, we will let you know how much this event raised for DDS School Council's Community Cares Fund.
We also wanted to share exciting news about our grade five students who recently participated in the Calgary Elementary School Mathematics Contest hosted online by Mount Royal University. Out of the 44 schools (1790 students), we had 7 DDS students score in the top 25%! We are proud of all our grade 5 students who participated and our teachers who teach and support them towards excellence.
DDS staff wanted to share heartfelt thank you to our families who spoiled us with treats this week. We are so appreciative of the kindness and care you continue to share with us! Our hearts (and bellies) are full!

School Council Update
Wednesday night we hosted our Annual General Meeting for School Council and our Parent Society. Welcome to our new and returning parents who were voted in unanimously for our executive board and committee positions!

READ-A-THON May 16th – May 31st:
DDS School Council is excited to host our 2024 Read-a-Thon. This is a fundraiser run by DDS School Council which enhances learning through the purchase of technology, bussing for field trips, resources for science, and books for classrooms. Each student was given a flyer with instructions and a pledge collection form. If you did not receive one, please email or call the school and we can ensure one is sent home. Thank you for supporting School Council in enhancing the learning and well-being at DDS!
Staff Parking Lot:
We are seeking witnesses to a car incident in the staff parking lot on Tuesday May 14, 2024. If you have information, please contact Ms. McKay hmmckay@cbe.ab.ca for a confidential conversation. We would like to remind all legal guardians and parents not to park their vehicles in the staff parking lot at any time, this includes when dropping off and picking up your child from A Step Ahead.
2024-2025 Kindergarten Information Evening & Open House:
We will be holding two events for new Kindergarten students joining us next school year.
· May 23 Online Information Evening at 6:00 to 6:30pm
· June 7 Open House at 1:00pm to 2:00pm

Have you moved during the school year or are you planning on moving during the summer to a new community? Please ensure you have informed the office of any changes.

If you are not returning to DDS for next school year and have not yet informed the office, please contact Ms. Naylor senaylor@cbe.ab.ca as soon as possible. Keeping an accurate record of student numbers enables the school to plan effectively.
