Happy Friday DDS Families,

On Wednesday May 21st, you are invited to join us for our School Council Annual General Meeting (AGM). If you are interested in joining our amazing School Council team, the following positions for next year are available:

  • Casino Co-ordinator
  • Fundraising and Fun committee members

We hope you can join us!

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible School Council and volunteers for organizing and hosting our spring "Under the Sea" themed dance party! The event was a huge success, with a fantastic turnout and an ocean of creativity, from the costumes to the dance moves. Events like these are only possible because of the countless hours spent planning, creating decorations, managing the snack shop, overseeing the entrance, and handling the cleanup afterward. We are truly grateful for everyone who helped make this event such a memorable experience!

Have a great weekend!

 Read-A Thon:

Get ready to read, read, and read! DDS will host its annual Read-A-Thon from May 15 to May 30. This fundraiser is to fund our new Serenity Spot. Why did we need this, you ask? Our old Living Wall was past its’ expiration date, with the integrity and safety of the old unit quickly decreasing. Our new Serenity Spot is already a much-loved space, enjoyed and used by all DDS students. It provides access to a natural self-regulation space, improving focus, mood, and social/emotional well-being. Calgary-based Tevagrow designed this new space specifically for DDS and was intentional about designing a unit for longevity and student safety. Students who participate in this fundraiser will be eligible to win Principal-for-a-day, Assistant-Principal-for-a-day, Mr. Tim-for-a-day, or the opportunity to officially name our new crayfish who resides in our Serenity Spot. All students who participate in the Read-A-Thon will be invited to add their name to our fundraising wall, capturing their contribution towards this legacy project.
