Happy Friday!

It was another spectacular week at DDS!

  • Thank you to everyone who purchased from our Scholastic Book Fair. We will add approximately $3500 in new books to our school library thanks to you!
  • This week our grade 5 students performed their ORFF piece for the whole school in preparation for Monday’s upcoming performance at Jack Singer Concert Hall. They also had a presentation from Mountain Park School and were invited to an open house in the evening.
  • Grades 4 and ¾ classes ventured to Aggie Days, enjoying the rodeo as well as learning about Alberta’s strong Agriculture industry.

Next week we look forward to welcoming band students from Mountain Park School on Tuesday for a whole school performance. We also hope to share the link from our Trickster performances in next week’s message from the office.

New bell times were announced for the 2025-26 school year. For more information, please visit our school website. While our exact kindergarten hours have not been approved, we anticipate the following starting next year. Exact bell times will be confirmed at our Welcome to Kindergarten Information session in late May.

Projected Kindergarten Hours for 2025-26

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:56 am to 11:20 am
  • Fridays: 8:56 am to 12:50 pm

We hope you enjoy the sunshine and have a wonderful weekend ahead!

Cheers,

DDS Administrative Team

Important: 75% of 2024-2025 Yearbooks have been sold:

The picture forms that came home with students this week are for a whole school photo. Every student automatically receives a free class photo and you do not need to fill out a form to receive this. Our yearbook includes a whole school photo, student school photos, and informal photos taken by staff members. For more information, please call the school office.

 Casino Volunteers Needed:

We are looking for volunteers to help on May 7th and 8th, 2025 at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino. We have lots of shifts available and need many volunteers to make this a success. This fundraiser will result in between $60,000 and $80,000 in funding that supports all sorts of activities at Douglasdale School.

You do not need a police clearance to volunteer, nor do you need to have a child at Douglasdale School. If you or another adult (friend, family member, etc.) can help us out by working a casino shift, please let us know by emailing ddsvolunteering@gmail.com.

New Club Sign Up:

Students are invited to join Mrs. Zuckernick to learn more about Nature Journaling. The learning will be progressive, so we ask students who sign up to commit to attending all three sessions. Sign up here.
